I am a retired captain with the United States Capitol Police (USCP) and the founder of Intentional Command LLC. I started my federal law enforcement career just days after the September 11th attacks and spent a quarter-century working in high-consequence environments in and around the US Capitol. 

Starting in the field as a member of the Civil Disturbance Unit, I then became a field trainer, an FBI-trained crisis negotiator, and a training instructor. As a sergeant, I led the development and implementation of over 30 distinct courses and taught over 3,500 hours of entry-level, in-service, and professional training to an agency with over 2,000 personnel. After promotion to lieutenant, I led the sworn recruiting, hiring, and background investigations for 15,000 applicants annually. Finally, as captain, I led the USCP’s Command Center, the exterior security, and law enforcement response for the U.S. Capitol and finished my career leading the department’s Emergency Planning, Special Events, and Continuity sections.
